The article discusses the ideas behind the architect and urban planner Granpre Molière’s designs for villages in the new IJsselmeerpolders, in the context of the utopian ideas of his time, especially his dialogue with Modernists and the new discipline of urban planning. Molière work is analyzed as a curious but very coherent case of conservative utopianism.
