In this thesis some aspects of bacterial especially tuberculous arthritis are discussed In connection with an outbreak of extrapulmonary tuberculosis in patients who were visiting an outpatient department for rheumatic diseases. An epidemiological analysis provides many details of the explosion originating In Veghel. Also a cohort follow·up study was performed with regard to the pathogenesis and the results are presented in this thesis.
