For lonely singles seeking a little love on Tinder, “a little” could be all they get — because 25% of the dating app’s users are in long-term relationships, say researchers.

Even more galling is the finding that love cheats on the app have nastier personalities but do better at finding partners than those who are genuinely alone.

“A lot of people use Tinder while in a committed relationship,” said Elisabeth Timmermans, a social scientist based at Erasmus University in the Netherlands, whose study of online dating included users in Europe and the US.
