ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book requires delicate ways of governing multi-actor processes, which we call water governance. It focuses on the interconnectivity aspect of water governance, and its struggle with it. It discusses the development of fragmentation, its role in water governance and the need for connective capacity in water governance to overcome fragmentation and integrate approaches, actors, frames and many more. The book deals with the layer fragmentation within water governance and the connective capacities of individuals, instruments and institutions in trying to overcome this fragmentation. It addresses the domain fragmentation of water governance processes. The book discusses the time aspect of water governance. It focuses on frame fragmentation and interconnection among actors in water governance processes from an individual, instrumental and institutional perspective. The book also addresses the relation between societal, private and governmental spheres in water governance.
