The aim of the studies presented in this thesis was to investigate some pediatric aspects of trace element metabolism .The effects are described of 1) inadequate trace element intake , 2) trace element malabsorption mine and 4) sulphate.Within ,3) urinary losses during therapy with D-Penicillazinc -copper interaction during therapy with zinc this general framework our attention was especially focused on the trace element selenium1 whose essentiality was virtually unrecognized at the beginning of these studies in l978.Much attention was also paid to the different aspects of zinc and copper homeostasis in Wilson's disease, which represents one of nature's experiments of trace element interaction .Several guestions, related to the treatment of this inherited metabolic disorder, had to be solveden
