Our world faces a dramatically increasing amount of social, environmental, and economic challenges during the coming decades. National governments acting alone lack the authority and resources to provide adequate responses. However, several creative responses are emerging from the business sector. But today’s corporate leaders increasingly think their social action should become less about "giving" and more about "acting" – moving corporate activity into what was previously solidly charity or government turf. Can businesses really improve the world while making money? RSM’s Rob van Tulder reveals that modern companies are learning that they must be attuned to the needs of the world’s population – in order to maximise profits.
