The experiments described in this thesis were performed in attempts to obtain quantitative and qualitative data on the overall activity of the humoral immune system of mice, as reflected by the concentration and heterogeneity of the various lg classes and subclasses in the blood. For most antigens, the humoral immune response is regulated by the thymic dependent limb of the immune system. Therefore, special attention was paid to the influence of the thymus on the concentration and heterogeneity of serum lg's.
