Designing and using interorganizational information systems requires cooperation and coordination among organizations that are, to a certain degree, competitors. This thesis analyzes the design and use of interorganizational information systems from the points of view of political organization theory and economic organization theory and analyzes three case studies of interorganizational information systems, and provides guidelines for the design of these systems.
