Worldwide, subfertility is still a rather common and complex problem. Since the pathogenesis is in most cases unknown, we aimed to investigate periconceptional modifiable determinants of 1-C metabolism in association with human subfertility.
The main aims of this thesis are to investigate;
(1) the Preconception Dietary Risk score (PDR score) and the mHealth coaching program Smarter Pregnancy (www.slimmerzwanger.nl) as tool to assess and change diet adequacy and empower health care professionals and patients.
(2) the impact of the diet in the development and treatment of the clinical spectrum of Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
(3) the influence of medication use on semen parameters.
