In this thesis, we show that now is the time of emerging minimally invasive and potentially even non-invasive nodal staging procedures; to reconsider which patients may actually benefit from nodal staging; to continue shared decision making for surgery as timing of surgery does not affect outcome; and to reassess if the maximal extent of lymphadenectomy is necessary, especially in the light of promising adjuvant immunotherapy results.
