The aim of this thesis is to investigate several issues related to monitoring and management of anticoagulant therapy. More insight into these factors, amongst others, the safety of POC INR monitoring in unselected patients, thromboplastin-mediated INR stability and different calculation methods for quality assessment of VKA treatment, may improve both the quality of anticoagulation control as well as experienced treatment quality in these patients and may therefore improve long-term clinical outcome.
