The first part of this thesis addresses the value of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid for the prognosis of small intestinal and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.
In the second part of this thesis the effect of treatment of neuroendocrine tumors with Lu177-DOTATATE is described. Specifically the radiological and symptomatic response are studied in patients with carcinoid syndrome, functional pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors or paragangliomas.
In the third part several quality of care items were studied, namely the importance of adherence to pathology guidelines, the pathology revision in expert centers and lastly the multidisciplinary team.
