The aim of this thesis is to describe novel metabolic and clinical factors in an aging population with Chronic Kidney Disease, in order to show their crucial role for risk stratification and risk monitoring in end-stage renal disease patients, and to underlie their role in the high risk of death and cardiovascular events in the dialysis population.
