Psychodermatology is present in every dermatologist’s office. How and where to treat depends on the severity and type of symptoms. Additional (psychological or psychiatric) care is possible with several healthcare providers, depending on the severity and type of symptoms. Some of these patients benefit from multidisciplinary assessment, care and treatment. In the multidisciplinary psychodermatology outpatient clinic of the Erasmus MC there is a joint assessment by a dermatologist and a psychologist or psychiatrist, hereby taking all aspects of the symptoms into account. It also helps to reduce patient reluctance for further psychological or psychiatric treatment or referral to assure the best (multidisciplinary) care for these complex patients.
