This thesis discusses the elimination of disease and burden of disease. In the first part, this thesis outlines the cost-effectiveness of several strategies contribution to hepatitis C elimination. In the second part, this thesis assess if antiviral resistance proposes a barrier towards the hepatitis C elimination goals. The final part focusses on HIV, a chronic disease, where the disease burden plays an important role.
