This issue of the Erasmus Law Review focuses on the Racial Equality Directive (RED), which was adopted by the European Union in 2000 and was transposed into national legislation by the ‘old’ member states in 2003 and somewhat later by those member states that joined the Union in 2004 and 2007. The RED has been hailed as particularly progressive, both in terms of its material scope and in terms of its pioneering focus on remedies and enforcement.
