The academic subject of finance has a value for society in addition to the value of a financial system in banks and financial markets. This point will be proved when a new professor explains how banking crises can affect the nation’s health in March. Mathijs van Dijk, Endowed Professor of Financial Markets at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (RSM), will give his inaugural address The Social Value of Finance on Friday, 7 March 2014. His research could help people and policymakers to better understand and deal with the societal consequences of financial crises.
