Abstract
The cerebellum is the part of the brain that is located posterior in the skull on top of the brain stem, and is known to contain more than half the proportion of neurons in the entire brain. The cerebellum is generally not considered to be the location where motor commands are initiated, but it has been regarded as the crucial element for coordinating different behaviors, by integrating various inputs from the cerebrum and spinal cord. In this introduction, I will discuss the anatomy of the cerebellum, the firing properties of the Purkinje cells and cerebellar functions.
