This systematic review aimed to compare the effec- tiveness to reduce pain, ease of needle procedures and adverse events of eutectic mixture of local anesthet- ics (EMLA) and amethocaine (AMETOP) for intra- venous cannulation and venipuncture in children. The authors excluded those RCTs which compared EMLA or amethocaine with another topical anesthetic such as ELA-MAX.
