Second to accidental injuries, coagulation disorders are the most important differential diagnosis of non-accidental bruising, although these disorders in general are much less common than accidents or child abuse. Coagulation disorders are always prominently mentioned as a possible pitfall, but there are only a relatively small number of case reports described in medical literature (Table 5.1).
