This thesis set out to provide further in-depth information on prostate cancer screening and active surveillance by addressing two main questions: “What are the mechanisms that lead to the observed reduction in prostate cancer mortality?” (part 1, screening) and “Are we able to selectively identify men with aggressive disease?” (part 2, active surveillance).
To address these two main questions several sub-questions were studied.
