The present dissertation is an attempt to begin providing a philosophical account of the practical relevance of causal knowledge in economics. The focus is on the notions of ‘causation’ and ‘evidence’ in the process of using economic science for policy purposes.

Overall, the result is a contribution to the methodology of economic policy-making.
