OBITUARY
On July 17 2015, Dirk W van Bekkum (Dirk), one of the pioneers of bone marrow transplantation (BMT), who helped to shape the discipline of stem cell transplantation, passed away after a short illness. He had begun making plans to celebrate his upcoming 90th anniversary 2 weeks later.
