This thesis describes first in a review the challenges, solutions and possible applications of MRI in thoracic imaging.

Furthermore it addresses the use of chest MRI for three areas: CF lung disease monitoring (five studies), central airways assessment (two studies) and diaphragm mechanics (one study).
