The aim of this thesis is to establish and develop a method suitable for obtaining an objective analysis of bone as registered on a radiographic image. This analysis concerns determination of the quantity of bone mineral present. The system has been tested in-vitro and in a clinical study on patients. Finally, the complete system of microdensitometric analysis must be potentially suitable as a basis for the development of equipment which can be used for routine clinical measurements.
