This dissertation focuses on the use of sedation analgesia during the awake implantation of a neurostimulator for patients with chronic pain. Two types of sedative are compared: dexmedetomidine, leaving the patient easily arousable and allowing a quick return to the sedated state, versus propofol, the standard sedative agent which is well known and widely used.
